My fellow friends, in just a little under a week, I will be embarking on a sabbatical of sorts... 7 days of fasting and prayer. Now, I have done fasting and prayer before but this sabbatical will be sort of different. Different because, it will be a true shunning of all the 'earthly' things that are considered joyful or pleasant to shut away with God and really spend some quality time with him.
Is it going to be hard? I think so. Imagine me, no facebook for a week... anyone who knows me, knows that I live for facebook. I also live for TV ... Generations & Lost will just have to do without me. I'm sure they'll manage - it's me I'm worried about!
There is also another long list of can't do-s over the week; like
- no make-up
- no meat
- no sugary, sweet stuff
- limited cell phone use
Guys, can I tell you... I'm looking forward to it but being the slave I am to technology, it is going to be a task.
I'm sure you are wondering now why would she have to be so extreme... well, it's about, showing commitment and saying to the Lord, that I can indeed shed some things for a while just to follow him in serious prayer and supplication.
So if you don't see me online or hear nothing from my blog... i'm just taking a step back... to evaluate!

To be mad is to be truly free! lol!
This morning I had the weirdest thought. I saw a madman quite relaxed on the street Downtown and thought to myself 'bwoy him nuh have a care in di world eeh'. As I continued on my journey, I found myself really thinking about the madman ... no i am not attracted to him (or any other mad person for that matter). But I just thought and wondered at that moment if anyone has ever observed the mannerisms of mad people... they go about carelessly, if they are hungry - they eat: anything! if they are thirsty - they drink: anything! They never get sick (physically that is) and anywhere night catch them, that's where they sleep. People pay no attention to their antics because under the law, they are mentally challenged and are not responsible for their actions. So if they feel like dancing naked in the streets it's on them.
Now you must be wondering why I suddenly start thinking about mad people? Well, I was thinking about freedom and I realized that to be mad is to be truly free!!! What a revelation!!!
With the exception of the fact that people chase you away every chance they get; you are pretty much free to do anything you want to do!
You also have quite a few more perks;
- You have no house and therefore no bills to pay
- No one calls you if they have no money because you don't have any either
- You don't care about where your food comes from; there is no 'nit-picking' about dirty food. You will eat the patty bag; it's not a problem
- Bathing: that is not an issue - you walk around for as long as you want without a shower - it is usually us the sane ones that have a problem with the smell
- Work - what name so?
- Shoes - two plastic bags work just fine
- Clothes - If you have none, you wear none! Simple!
LOL! Seriously though guys, take a look at the next mad person you see. I guarantee you'll observe someone who is totally and completely free.

If I laugh, I cry!
You know, I had no idea how my blogs were missed until recently... so many persons have asked me if I've stopped. The truth is I have not stopped. I have rather, been taking stock of my environment... there is so much to write about! Information overload is killing me.
There is so much to rant and rave about! Have you noticed that there is hardly any good news being reported lately??? I recall in the latter part of last year when I wrote a letter to the Gleaner Editor, lauding them for their effort to report good news... but recently I can't even blame them, the situations facing us as Jamaicans daily is just so colorful, exciting and filled with so many unexpected twists and turns! All I have to say is "who could have thunk it???"
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that the ever evolving predicaments in which Jamaica finds itself is exciting, what I am doing is using the words loosely, a pun if you please :)
So while the 'excitement' on the Rock continues, I continue to observe... sometimes holding my breath as I do. One word we could never use to describe Jamaica is predictable. Anyone who does that either has no appreciation for the English language is just plain boring.
Y'all must be wondering what I'm on about now... but I learnt a long time ago, 'a noh everyting good fi eat, good fi talk' soh mi just a 'kibba mi mout'. To the others of you who know what I'm lamenting about, what a situation my dears!!!
If I laugh, I cry!
